Seven Sirens is a new addition to the Shantae series, previously exclusive to Apple Arcade but now on Switch. It has a similar formula to the praised Pirate's Curse, featuring Metroidvania style gameplay, individual stages, Zelda-like dungeons, and a catchy soundtrack. However, instead of a game with expanding maps, Shantae has a single, large map divided into various zones with warp points. The addition of Monster Cards which drop from dying monsters, provides buffs for Shantae throughout the game. The game is also full of callbacks to previous games, with a new dance parlor, timed battle dungeon, and many characters from Half-Genie Hero. The game looks great with colorful backgrounds, though there can be slowdown, and has a toe-tapping soundtrack. However, there are some minor complaints such as short load screens and invisible important objects on the map. Regardless, Seven Sirens is a must for Shantae or Metroidvania fans with a lot of personality and a lot of replayability.

What we like:
  • Fun platformer
  • Good music and animations
  • Return to form for Shantae franchise
  • Exciting characters
  • Recommended highly
What could be improved:

  • Lacks flow
  • Worst game of the franchise
  • Easy and boring gameplay
